Common Truss Types

Fink Truss

Mono Truss

Scissor Truss

A scissor truss is a type of roof truss where the bottom chords cross and slope upward, forming an open, vaulted ceiling inside the structure. This design allows for more interior height and an aesthetically pleasing ceiling shape while still providing good structural support. It's commonly used in churches, halls, and homes with cathedral-style ceilings.

Hip Truss

A hip truss is a type of truss used in hip roof construction, where all sides of the roof slope downwards toward the walls. It typically includes a combination of standard trusses and special hip-end trusses that support the sloped ends. Hip trusses provide a strong, wind-resistant roof structure and are commonly used in residential and commercial buildings for their aesthetic and structural benefits.

Parallel Chord (Box) Truss

A parallel chord truss (also known as a box truss) is a truss where the top and bottom chords are parallel to each other. This design is often used in floors and flat or low-slope roofs, providing consistent depth and even load distribution across the span. It is efficient, easy to install, and ideal for modern building designs requiring uniform support

Raised Tie Truss

A raised tie truss is a type of roof truss where the tie beam (bottom chord) is positioned higher than the base of the rafters, creating a vaulted or open ceiling effect while still controlling outward thrust on the walls. This design combines structural support with aesthetic appeal and is commonly used in residential buildings to achieve a more spacious interior.

Attic Truss

An attic truss is a type of roof truss designed to create usable space within the roof structure, such as an attic or loft. It features a larger, open central area supported by internal webs, allowing for flooring and headroom. This truss is ideal for maximising living or storage space without needing a full second story.

Bow Truss

A bow truss is a type of roof truss with a curved or arched top chord, resembling the shape of a bow. It is designed to span wide areas without interior supports, making it ideal for warehouses, factories, and large open spaces. The bow shape provides both structural efficiency and aesthetic appeal, often allowing for high, open ceilings.
